You know that feeling when you miss a step going down the stairs, and for half a second, you’re convinced you’re about to die? Yeah, falling in love feels a lot like that—except it lasts for months, maybe years.
Real, head-over-heels, holy-shit-I-can’t-breathe love is the most overwhelming and terrifying thing ever. It’s that all-consuming, can’t-stop-thinking-about-them, their-name-pops-up-on-your-phone-and-your-heart-nearly-explodes kind of love. It’s beautiful. It’s intoxicating. It’s also absolutely terrifying.
Because what if you lose them? What if one day, the thing that makes your heart race and your stomach flip just… disappears? The mere thought of it is enough to send you into a full-blown existential crisis.
And yet, here we are—diving in anyway, because as scary as it is, not loving at all would be so much worse.
Falling in love means giving someone the power to break you but trusting they won’t. It’s surrendering to the chaos of emotions and hoping to God that the person you’ve handed your heart to will hold it gently. It’s realizing that, despite all the risks, love is still the most magical and maddening thing we’ll ever experience.
It’s scary as hell. But maybe, just maybe, it’s worth it.
